We are very happy to introduce the RootsWeb Volunteer Spotlight! We’re reviving the proud RootsWeb tradition of highlighting the efforts and kindness of the amazing volunteers and admins who make RootsWeb so great.

You can read about Pat Geary, our first very deserving nominee, on the new-and-improved Volunteer Spotlight page, found on the homepage under “Volunteering at RootsWeb.” And if you know of someone who has gone above and beyond in their contribution to RootsWeb and the genealogy community, please nominate them for recognition on the Volunteer Spotlight page. The RootsWeb staff will sift through your nominations and contact the nominees for more info and a photo – because even though we do it out of love, sometimes it’s nice to get a virtual pat on the back.

We’ve also heard from many of you that you have some time to give but aren’t sure how to get started. Check out the new Volunteer Opportunities on RootsWeb page for ideas on how to help the RootsWeb community grow and flourish.
