Annoying Ads on RootsWeb

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Over the past couple of days, we’ve heard a lot of concern about blinking or flashing ads on RootsWeb that are annoying and even potentially dangerous to those susceptable to seizures or migranes. We agree that these advertisements have no place on RootsWeb and we’ve been working with the ad folks to remove them all.

If you see a flashing or offensive ad anywhere on RootsWeb, please report it to the HelpDesk. Make sure that you include a general description of the advertisement and the text that is on the ad so that we’re sure that we remove them all.

Thanks for your patience and understanding and for helping us identify and nix all of these bad advertisements.

We don’t have 20,000 copies of The Guide to give out right now, but we’d like to tell you about some Volunteer Recognition plans we have in the works.

Changed Font Size for Comments

Friday, May 4th, 2007

Sorry that the font size for your comments has been shrinking!  We want RootsWeb to be as easy to use as possible, and that includes font sizes and colors.

As of this morning, you should be seeing bigger fonts for the comments you make on the RootsWeb Newsroom (it’s the same size as is used for the posts themselves).  Thanks again for your suggestions, and we hope this makes commenting on Newsroom posts even easier.
